What Impacts Your CPP Estimate?

A few things determine how much you’ll actually get:

  • How many years you worked and contributed
  • How much you earned
  • When you start your CPP (earlier = less, later = more)

If you take it at age 60, you get less each month.
If you wait until 70, you get more.

Common Questions I Hear From Clients in Ottawa

1. Do I need to wait until I’m 60 to check it?
Nope. You can check your CPP estimate anytime.

2. What if I lived abroad for a few years?
CPP is based on your work history and contributions in Canada, not your location.

3. Is this estimate guaranteed?
Not exactly. It’s a projection based on your current contribution history. If you stop working or earn more later, it may go up or down.
